Council Leaders Join Our Peer Support Group to Hear Lived Experience Impact
We were delighted to welcome Council Leader Tracey Dixon and Deputy Leader Jane Carter to our peer support group, where they spent time listening to the powerful experiences of those who have been bereaved by suicide.
Their visit gave them the opportunity to hear directly from people who have lost someone they love and who have been supported by Billy’s Lifeline on their journey through grief. Group members spoke openly about the challenges they have faced, the importance of compassionate spaces, and the difference that consistent, trauma‑informed support has made to their wellbeing.
For many, this was a meaningful moment; an opportunity to share their stories with leaders who are committed to understanding the realities of suicide bereavement within our community. Tracey and Jane expressed their appreciation for the courage shown by those who attended and recognised the vital role peer support plays in helping people feel less alone.
At Billy’s Lifeline, we remain dedicated to ensuring that every person affected by suicide has access to understanding, connection, and hope. We are grateful to the Council for their continued interest in our work and for taking the time to hear directly from the people at the heart of what we do.
